Pearl Livingston comes from a long line of purebloods who married with purebloods. The Livingstons are a really proud family with a large fortune. She has been raised in the world of wizarding aristocracy. She used to live with her parents in a large property hidden from Muggles in East Sussex, UK. She moved out of her parents' property when she became Matron at Hogwarts, living in a beautiful flat in London during the summer. She has been given a large part of the family fortune when she moved out. She is unaware that she is the one inheriting the family property when her father will pass away. She thinks it will be her eldest sister. Her father, Benjamin Edward Livingston (59 years old) and her mother, Catherine (58 years old, née Hughes) were wed through an arranged marriage after both their parents had met at a party and thought a marriage would be adequate. They were both reluctant at first but fell in love when they were in Hogwarts. She has two older sisters, Poppy (32 years old) who is unmarried and works for the ministry, and Phoebe (30 years old) who's married to a pureblood wizard named Jean-Sébastien Roché and has a daughter named Abigail (1 year old). Pearl's family has also been vacationing in the Mediterranean (Southern France, Italy and Greece) since she has been a toddler. And so, along with speaking Italian, Greek and French fluently, she also picked up Mermish from the merpeople she has met in her travels with her family throughout the years. It started when Pearl was 7 and had been swimming in Greece and saw a mergirl trapped in a fishing net that just lay out in the water. She had gotten her small stainless steel pocket knife out and freed the girl who swam away as soon as she was free. It was not until midnight that night that she was awaken by strange noises coming from the beach that lead to their beach house. She peeked outside and saw merpeople leaving precious shells, rocks and crystals on the shore, where the tide didn't reach. She made her way to the beach as fast as she could, but they were already gone. She looked at the items and realised they were gifts. Gifts for helping that young mergirl. She sat outside that night, staring at the ocean. She decided on learning Mermish after that incident. She learned to speak Gobbledegook because of her father. He's the Head of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures and used to work in the Goblin Liaison Office. He taught her basic words and vocabulary and she learnt the rest on her own. When in Hogwarts, Pearl was sorted in Ravenclaw and joined the Quidditch team as Seeker when she was 12. She's a shy and timid girl, but on the Quidditch pitch, her aggressive side came out. She is a big fan of Quidditch and has had the chance to attend many World Cups. She became Prefect in her fifth year but had no interest in becoming Head Girl even after it was offered to her. She always had a knack in Potions, Transfiguration, Herbology, Charms, and Defence Against the Dark Arts. She is very good with charms and hexes. She is very fast and efficient in Potions. She had always wanted to become a Healer at St. Mungo's. She has also learned to Apparate at the end of her sixth year, like it is customary. She learnt the Unforgivables after she left Hogwarts. With an O average in her O.W.Ls and N.E.W.Ts, Pearl went on to become a mediwizard. She was the official field doctor for the Puddlemere United Quidditch team for her first year out of Hogwarts (while she was 18). After she was harassed by a member of the team, she quit and was then hired at St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries, again as a mediwizard. She tended to injuries at events such as quidditch games and other wizarding events. It was after she was able to save a patient when a healer was missing that the Healer-in-Charge of the Spell Damage ward hired her on the spot as a Healer. She was just 19 years old. Pearl was well on her way of becoming the next Healer-in-Charge when, at 26 years old, she was contacted by the old Matron who was thinking of retiring at 98 years old. The elderly woman had always been admired by Pearl who thought the woman was an unsung hero. She was told that she was recommended to the Headmaster. Surprised, she accepted the elderly woman's offer. And when the letter from the Headmaster arrived, Pearl replied promptly. And thus, at 27 she became the matron at Hogwarts. Of course, romance is not out of the picture here. She was engaged to this boy when she was just 6 years old after their parents agreed to it. She is the first one out of her siblings to be engaged against her will, her sister Poppy has no interest in the matter and made it very clear that she doesn't fancy men. As for her other sister, Phoebe, there were no one of her age that were of adequate blood purity. She married a French pureblood a few years after she was out of school. Pearl has been focused on her career and had no thoughts of the whole arranged marriage until she turned 26 and her parents reminded her she was engaged and that she should seriously start thinking about the wedding. She went out with a half-blood boy during her time at Hogwarts but he turned out to be a total jerk who tried to force himself on her on a date in Hogsmeade. Pushing him away she hexed him and he ended up in the hospital wing after the shock. She didn't get a detention on the reason he was at fault and she used self-defence. They broke up and they stopped talking. She is quite glad of this outcome. She hasn't been really trusting of guys since that event, heck the only guys she really talk to are her rare male friends and her co-workers. She is very interested in the man she is engaged to. They went to school together and had common friends. She would never admit it, but if he went right out and told her he loves her and wants to marry her not out of obligation but out of interest/love, she would blush and run away and would tell him she also likes him about a few days after.
