He didn't come away with much of the inheritance but by no means did his father leave him without a penny to his name. He owns a private residence on the outskirts of Hogsmeade although he does spend most of his time at Hogwarts castle. He and his family often visit the Dunesworth main house during the summer holidays. [/style]Marcus is happily married ( Marcus has a general phobia of underground places. This stems from a traumatic experience he had as a boy. When he was about seven, he and his siblings had been playing hide and seek in the woods on the Dunesworth estate where he had the great misfortune of falling into an old well. It was well past midnight when they found him, by which time he had been sitting knee-deep in the water for more than eight hours. An attempt to climb out of the well caused a sprain in his left ankle. To this day, that ankle remains weak and prone to twisting. His boggart takes the form of that same well. As a student, Marcus was member of RAVENCLAW house. Marcus had been a hat-stall during his sorting, where the hat had spent at least five minutes trying to convince him that he (as all Dunesworths past) belonged in Slytherin house. The debate was put to an end when Marcus threatened to burn the sorting hat should it deign to force him into spending seven years of his life sleeping in the dungeons. Given his fears, his family found it acceptable. In his younger days, Marcus was a proud champion of pureblood-superiority. He's still slightly prejudiced where this topic is concerned (old habits, you know) but he holds no discrimination where students and colleagues are concerned. It is his job to help every student to expand their potentials and to excel. As for colleagues, he has come to trust each and every one as (more or less) a friend. He makes it a point not to show favouritism. Marcus is a bit of a perfectionist, especially when it comes to the subject of transfiguration. He loves it with a passion. While he does not expect his students to be perfect, he does expects nothing less than for them to put forth their very best effort. It is his hope that his passion and dedication towards the art of transfiguration will move his students to enjoy it as much as he does. He is a conservative man. He likes it when students behave themselves (as young ladies and gentlemen should). However, he isn't quick to chide. More than one and a half decade's worth of teaching has earned this professor a wealth of patience and tolerance. Marcus has a fascination over magical creatures. Not every kind. Only those he considers as 'noble' or 'beautiful' beasts, such as griffins and dragons. There is always at least one living statue placed in his office, his classroom as well as the Ravenclaw common-room. He changes them every so often to keep things interesting. He is an avid reader and can almost always be found nestled comfortably in some nook, deeply engrossed in some book or article. Not all of the books he reads are academic. Marcus began his teaching career at Hogwarts when he was twenty-three. He was made Head of Ravenclaw when he was thirty-two years old. He is an accomplished occlumens, capable of performing OCCLUMENCY wandlessly. Like many outstanding wizards, Marcus is capable of APPARITION and WANDLESS MAGIC. The UNFORGIVEABLES are a pre-requisite for any Dunesworth who has come of age. He is also an ANIMAGUS. In his animal form, Marcus takes the form of a common kestrel. His markings are identical to that of his familiar although his cap is of a shade darker than Freyr's. It's not noticeable unless the two stand side-by-side.
