The orphanage he was so unceremoniously given to was in an already despairing state, and war leant nothing to the needy. From the get-go, Magnus leaned to either fight to the top, or be pushed around for the rest of his life. Needless to say, he did not like the idea of being bullied and so clawed his way to the top for first picks or anything of the matter of survival. [/style]He does have a “little brother”, whom was another boy he’d taken under his wing during his time at the orphanage. Magnus was intensely protective of this boy, and did indeed exact revenge on the kids that pushed his little brother around, a few times with some very lethal consequences. Yes, this does mean he’s killed a couple kids while he was a kid himself, but when there’s political turmoil, nobody’s paying attention to a couple of dead orphans in the crappy part of town. He was adopted by a Russian military officer when he was ten years old, but refused to go without the boy he’d taken responsibility for. Of course, he didn’t stay with this man for very long before he was shipped off to Hogwarts. His natural charm was thanks to his veela blood from a mother he never knew, and he found himself getting along very well with those around him, even if he held contempt for just about everybody he met. However, his very military upbringing showed, and he remained disciplined throughout. His contempt grew to a seething, silent hatred as he grew older and never died down at all; in fact, growing even more intense. He’s notorious for making himself whatever you want him to be. Most can say that he’s a befitting gentleman; courteous and gentle. However, get to know him a little better and you’ll soon see that it’s really a polite disinterest you’re seeing. Though he’ll mingle with pretty much everybody, there are few he thinks are fit for his company; he’s got a pretty big narcissus complex, especially when it comes to his hair. He keeps a certain distance from many people he meets to gauge how useful they are to him because it’s one of the only factors he takes into consideration when deciding whether to further an acquaintance with a person. He has learned to imitate behaviours, mannerisms and even pitches of voice to portray a certain image; all the world’s a stage, after all. However, he’ll only extend his hand if he knows you can give something back; he likes to acquaint and associate with those who have a position of power, wealth, influence or those who can further his own end goals the most. He has a certain way with words that’ll soften the harshest of exteriors, but he remains extremely focused on his tasks at hand and what his goals are. He never sees a situation on a personal level, but calculates its worthiness based on things like his invested time, situation difficulty, whether anyone else is involved, among other factors. Snagging a job as a hit wizard was probably one of his greater strokes of luck, being able to vent his frustrations and possibly kill things at the same time. He now only occasionally visits home and even then, mainly to see his little brother and make sure he’s doing alright. As far as his veela blood goes, he’s not terribly proud of it, nor does he disassociate with it. He does transform into a rather horrible, bird-like creature when he gets extremely angry, though he doesn’t seem partial to it.
