Estrella is a half-blood. Her mother's side is a prestigious pureblood family descended from the ancient witches and wizards of Moorish Spain, renowned for their work in occlumency and charms. However, her mother fell in love with an English Muggle who was visiting Barcelona and moved back with him to London, where Estrella and her little sister, Reena, were born and raised. Her father knew what her mother was from before they were married, but as time wore on the pressure of raising magical children turned him into a spiteful petty man, and eventually he and Estrella's mother divorced when she was 14. She doesn't really associate with him anymore.
Estrella was a late bloomer in terms of magical ability, not displaying any sort of talent until she was seven, but her mother actively involved her in the wizarding world regardless. She helped out from a young age with the kneazle breeding operation her mother runs to support the family. When she started suffering from uncontrollable nightmares as well at age 10, her mother began teaching her the basics of occlumency in order to ward them off, and she found herself adept at the art and began truly studying it in depth at Hogwarts.
Her animagus form started as a joke when her friend bet her in third year that she couldn't learn the transformation before they graduated. She finally mastered it and became a jaguar animagus in the middle of her sixth year. She is registered.
Her patronus is a goshawk because her little sister raises them for sale as hunting hawks during the summer. Her sister does not attend Hogwarts, but instead a wizarding academy in Spain.
